On May 3, 2019, in the early hours of the morning, Banana Culture Entertainment announced that both Hani and Jeonghwa would be leaving the agency. All of the EXID's members' contracts were up for renewal by the end of the month, and the two of them decided to not sign. The agency clarified that this would not be the end of EXID, but instead a new step in their career.[1] LE and Solji expressed wanting to try debuting solo, while Hyelin was looking forward to hosting variety shows.[2] But before their contracts would run out, EXID prepared one last comeback as a five-member group for a long time, titled WE, which was to be released on May 15, 2019. WE is also defined as a symbol of unity between the girls and their fans, who have been with them since day one. We can see the constant support from LEGGO, with Solji's hiatus, Hani's fancam that saved the group, and much more. Their ambition to succeed no matter what has proven to save the group time and time again.
This mini album was an emotional experience for the members, especially since they dedicated it to their fans, LEGGO.[3] The second track, We Are.. was also composed by all five members of EXID, along with their long-time producer, Shinsadong Tiger, whom has taken part in creating every single EXID song since debut.
